Sunshine Days

These two days have been extremely 'sunny' to me. Been meeting nice people. People whom after you have your drink/meal with, and you just feel good about the meeting. That you wish everyone in the world are like them!

And your friends send you smses, expressing their appreciation of your relationship.

And you are building stronger bridges with your new found friends.

Sunshine days are definitely here to stay :)

Giving Back to Society

I'm currently reading this book, written by the founder and owner of one of the biggest MLM companies in US.

It's amazing what he has to say, what he has accomplished and his attitude in life.

Since he has made his money, both him and his business partner wanted to give back to their hometown which was 'dying'. So they begun to build offices, hospitals, hotels, etc. And they thought nothing of recognition. They just wanted to do their part for their town they grew up in. As a result, their hometown flourished and SMEs begin to emerge and lifestyles of many families begin to improve.

Isnt it amazing to have the ability to do that? That the money that you initially put in, causes a domino effect and able to touch so many lives. And these lives, will continue to touch more lives, as a result of the 'Pay It Forward' concept. wow...

The book gave me ideas when I make my money from FitLine. I just cant wait!

Senior Citizens are Generally Broke...

I went for a networking dinner last night. After getting to know everyone at the dinner, I sat at a table, where this Malaysian lady, who is based overseas, and her hubby is an expatriate (English).

It was just SO entertaining listening to her talk. She loves to talk, she is very dressy and she's just so...entertaining.

She was sharing that during each trip back to Malaysia, she is just so busy going for events - launch of premium range products, premium clothes, etc. She holds a Platinum credit card thus, gets invited to these launches.

And she loves going to such launches. She gets to dress up, meet more people, and thus very very busy each time she's back!

She is also a Rotarian member and since everyone knows she has a generous heart, they asked her for donation - for a senior citizens trip to a local destination in Malaysia.

She was shocked! How come senior citizens have no money??? After working for so many years, shouldnt they have savings??? I chuckled a little at her gullibility and I was laughing out loud inside of me. I told her, she's fortunate that she's not in that position as she's married to an expatriate. And the reason why most senior citizens are broke is because they have poor financial management.

Statistics have shown that most people will use up their EPF savings in 3 years. Thus, it is very important to build a pipeline of passive income. And MLM is one of them.

Mind Your Own Business

I had an interesting conversation with a few friends this morning. We were talking about how some people are just so nosy into other people's affair or should I say life style.

Kay poh (Malaysian slang for nosy) questions that people like to ask (I mean strangers who dont know you, and yet start off the conversation by asking these!)
- are you married?
- do you have children?
- where do you work?
- how much you earn?
etc, etc...you get my drift...

This conversation reminded me of an incident a couple of weeks ago. A group of us intended to have casual lunch. And since we were in that vicinity, I invited a friend (gave him a couple of days notice) whom I know stays nearby. He accepted my invite.

When we first sat down for lunch, after 2 or 3 ice-breaking questions from my friend, he immediately ask:
- so what do you guys do? and he immediately handed out his namecards to each and every one of us
- while doing so, he enquired on our occupation
- and when some of us hesitated to answer, he kept on pressing for answer!

These are some of the things that I think shouldnt happen in a casual lunch/dinner or event. In a casual setting, people generally dont want to talk about work or business. People just want to chill out.

If this took place in a known networking environment, then I'm perfectly fine. Like when I make appointments with prospects for FitLine, they know that I'm there to talk about business.

Like what my friend, KT says, Asians are generally so kay poh!

Be confident of yourself

I recently attended a money management talk conducted by a local author. I always enjoy (especially when it's FREE) going for talks to see what I can learn from the author and also whether the person is suitable to become my business partner.

Of course, at the end of the talk, I did learn one or two things. However, what shocked me was the way the author degraded herself. Since it was a money management talk, I expected the author to be confident of herself that she was on her way to financial freedom.

Instead, she kept on trashing herself that she is poor.

I understand that the initial years of an entrepreneur is tough. You are just scrapping by to pay the bills. However, those who succeed, have a burning desire to fulfill their dream.

This author has big dreams too. However, I found that she contradicted herself by saying that she doesnt have to be rich. Or should I say it's not necessary to be rich. During the talk, I voiced my opinions that I didnt agree to certain things she said.

Anyway, at the end of the talk, I approached her to thank her for the talk. And lo and behold. I could feel that her energy level is SO low as though she has lost her confidence!

Hmmm...how do you achieve big dreams if you dont have energy and confidence?

It's the heart industry...

I had dinner with a former MLMer from another MLM recently. Had a very interesting conversation, sharing our trials and tribulations of our industry.

J was with a MLM company for about 2 years, dealing with non-consumable products. Was doing fairly well, earning a good 4 figure monthly paycheck, made overseas trips to open the market.

Somehow towards the end of 2 years, something didnt feel right. J felt something was missing. Is it the marketing plan? Is it the products? Is it the leaders?

Upon soul searching and attending seminars, J realised that she wasnt enjoying it. The leaders didnt walk the talk. The products are non-consumables. How many non-consumables can you buy??? J wondered.

At the end, J called it quits.

I agree. MLM is a people industry. You have to walk the talk. You have to win the trust. It's a relationship business too. Once you crossed the line, it's difficult to reconcile.

And mostly importantly, the product must be good quality and consumable for the repeat sales.

I'm glad that I'm with FitLine.

Back to routine...

Now that Mount K project is over, I am back to my routine. No more Gasing treks or 70 floors of staircase in the morning. Back to my brisk walk around my condo or Kiara Hill in the evenings.

Somehow, after preparing for Mount K for 3 months, it feels a little strange to go back to before.

Now, have to readjust to my routine of starting my business day in the morning instead of only starting after my workouts. But that is life aint it? It is always changing. Change is constant. And change is good. It keeps you growing. It keeps you out of your comfort zone.

I am looking forward to achieving my next goal in August. YES!

Small mind = Small life

Today I had a very interesting conversation with someone, W. We were commenting on how our mutual friend, H, is very busy. H is a super achiever, minggles mostly with the elite circle of the society but however, still finds it ok to mix with the ordinary masses.

W is the typical person, who lives from pay check to pay check, cos believes in enjoying life. W travels for leisure almost every month around the world. And yet, when H shares of the next multi million dollar project, W is green with envy, passing off sarcastic remarks.

Hmm....it made me wonder. Why lead small lives when you can lead big lives? All of us are here to fulfill our vocation. Thus, we are to live up to our potential and leave a mark here on Earth. Why the need to tear down all buildings in town, just to make your own building stand out?

Conversations like this makes you know who you should surround yourself with...

Like what Oprah Winfrey says "Surround yourself only with people who can bring you higher". My version will be "Only Quality People (OQP)" How true...

I came, I saw, and I conquered Mount Kinabalu

Me at Mount Gorilla (face of Gorilla on the mountain)

Me at Low's Peak...

At long last, after weeks of training, at 545am April 15, I reached Low's Peak (aka the highest peak of South East Asia at 4,092.5m above sea level) with 2 of my team mates.

What was the feeling? Of course GREAT! The scenery was magnificient. Things like this makes you appreciate Mother Nature for her beauty and serenity.

Kinabalu Park (the base of Mount Kinabalu) and its surrounding is such a beauty. Fresh air, scenic views, fresh fruits and vegetables. I just felt healthier being there!

Nevertheless, this trip to Mount Kinabalu is such an eye opener to me. I got to know my friends better (I think the jokes from this trip will be a legend among us), I got to know myself better and I truly enjoy outdoors.

All the way up to the summit and down, I was constantly sipping FitLine Fitness Drink. And I can honestly attest that it REALLY helped. I wasnt as tired as the rest and able to keep up my pace and momentum to reach the destination in almost record time.

Initially, my team mate, KT, refused to drink the Fitness Drink. She was happy just having plain water. I respected her decision. Half way through the 6 hours trek, she felt exhausted. She then relented to having Fitness Drink. Almost immediately, she felt the surge of energy and rejuvenation! Haha...only if she had taken it earlier. Both of us arrived hours ahead of the rest!

Now that Mount K has been conquered, I will need to conquer the next item on my list...

I Believe

By chance, I stumbled onto Fantasia Barrino's award winning song, 'I Believe' a few days ago on youtube.

She was the American Idol winner in year 2004. I remembered I was rooting for her then, and even took leave to watch her life during the finale! (yup, I was seriously rooting for her and knew she will win)

Why was I rooting for her? Not because the song or should I say the lyrics meant anything to me at that time. It was her passion, and energy when she sang the song. So pure and so alive. It was just so beautiful.

Now, looking at the lyrics, they hold dear to my heart. This is the excerpt of the lyrics which I think is very powerful and meaning:

Fantasia Barrino's I Believe

Have you ever reached a rainbow's end
And did you find your pot of gold
Ever catch a shooting star
And tell me how high did you soar
Ever felt like you were dreaming
Just to find that you're awake
And the magic that surrounds you
Can lift you up and guide you on your way

I can see it in the stars across the sky
Dreamt a hundred thousand dreams before
Now I finally realise
You see I've waited all my life for this moment to arrive
And finally yeah

I believe in the impossible
If I reach deep within my heart
Overcome any obstacle
Won't let this dream fall apart
See I strive to be the very best
Shine my light for all to see
Cause anything is possible
When you believe yeah...

This song now, holds special meaning to me as I will be at the summit of Mount K on April 15, after months of training. I will also remember this song, when I achieve Champion's League*.
Definitely, I believe.

* highest ranking in PM International AG

Dreams

I managed to watch the rerun of Oprah Winfrey's featuring 16 year old singing sensation, Charise Pempengco from the Philippines.

Charise discovered she had a talent for singing at the tender age of 4. Ever since then, she entered every singing competition and has won each and every contest. The contest was a way of helping her mom to bring food to the table. Charise and her mom had to leave their violent father and started life anew.

Armed with nothing but a dream and faith in God, she kept her faith that ONE day, she will sing with her idol, Celine Dion. She kept drawing, visualing herself, on the stage, singing with Celine Dion.

And the day, did arrive, 12 years later. Someone discovered her on youtube, and mentioned it to Oprah. And everything else is history. Oprah has the ability to help anyone's dream come true. And she did.

What did I learnt from this 16 year old diva? You have just got to protect your dream. It's your dream, and only you, can make sure it's kept alive. And coupled with strong faith, the right people will just enter into your life and help to make your dream come true.

So, believe that your dream will come true. Because, dreams do come true.

I know and I believe that with FitLine, my dreams will come true.

Did I do something ...?

I was at the printing shop the other day.

Since I am a regular at the shop, I do things on my own, ie send file to the printer, change the coloured paper in the feeders on my own and collect them. (it's faster this way, rather than waiting for the owners of the shop to do it for you!)

The only thing I dont do is the stapling of the booklets.

So everything was settled in half hour. The only thing left outstanding was paying the bill. And only the lady boss is authorised to write the bill.

I waited for 5 minutes. She's busy. Fine

I said, "Auntie, collect money". She was still busy. Waited for another 5 minutes

Her son "Ma, collect money". She was still busy. Waited for another 5 minutes

Her husband "Collect money ah". She was still busy. Waited for another 5 minutes

I was getting rather impatient. Then, lo and behold, another customer came. She came to pay her outstanding bill. Immediately, the lady boss attended to her.

I was like &*$%. What did I do to offend her and make her ignore me? I could feel that both her son and husband were feeling bad for me, that I had waited so long.

I dont tolerate rudeness. So I just packed up my printed materials, told her that I pay her next time since she is too busy to collect my money. She was a little taken aback. She didnt expect me to do that.

Before I left the shop, I told her husband loudly that I will be back next time for my name card.

What's with this people? Wherever we are, we are in the service industry. Customer is king. I have always treated the owners well, creating small talks whenever I'm there.

I'm really thinking it's high time I look for another printing shop. People who treat their customers badly dont deserve their customers. Period.

Dream Stealers

Today, I had lunch with an old friend. Someone whom I havent seen for ages.

The first thing she commented when she saw me was 'You lost weight!' (That shows how long I havent seen her. I have lost my weight and maintained the weight loss for more than a year now)

We started talking about our careers, how our mutual friends are doing and finally she asked exactly what I did to lose weight.

I told her I went on the FitLine Weight Management Program and have maintained the weight loss via daily exercise and now, preparing for my Mount K trip.

She then commented 'Eh, you sure you can manage the climb ah? It's very tough one you know...'

I was practically speechless for a split second the moment I heard this. I have known this friend for more than 10 years and THAT remark was the least I have expected from her.

I then proceeded to tell her that I have been training diligently for the past 3 months for Mount K and I'm sure I will succeed climbing the highest mountain in South East Asia.

I was also thinking. THANK GOODNESS I didnt share with her my dreams. My dreams of achieving financial freedom, my dreams of being of service to others, etc. She would be one of the many dream stealers lurking around.

Sad isnt, that a friend has regressed in mindset? But that is life. Not many choose to adjust their sail to arrive at their destination. They just rely on the wind to take them wherever.

May I Help You?

A few days ago, I had such a wonderful experience with the store manager of a local pharmacy chain. Having been in Malaysia for almost my entire existence, I have given up hope on our service industry.

The people at the front line are always so plain - no smile, doing the minimal, and sometimes, trying to escape not doing the minimal. And the worst of the lot, very rude and arrogant.

So, my meeting with Miss Y truly brighten up my evening. I was looking for knee supports for my upcoming Mount K trip. She was not only helpful, she suggested which brand to get. I know that she's not pushing the brand for the sake of it as I have tried another brand in the market for my ankle. Not only $$$, they dont work. And she vouched for its inefficacy before I shared my view.

As I proceeded to pay, as usual, I would always ask for discount (learnt this from one of the seminars, haha). To my surprise, she obliged, offering her staff discount to me and throwing in another sample freebie!

What a delight meeting her! This is what the service industry should be about. Helpful, courteous and always of service to the customer. I was so taken by her level of standard that I called her the next day to thank her (didnt have time to thank her then, since customers came to her) and I told her that I would write in to the pharmacy chain HQ and mention that she did a great job (and I did email to the HQ)

Isnt it great? That you received such good service? Especially when it's beyond their call of duty? Of course, on the giver's case, they do it out of sincere call of duty, and if they are appreciated, they enjoy their work more.

Coming back to my business, FitLine. MLM is partly a service industry too. I do my best to be of service to my Team Partners. Some express appreciation, some just take it as it is, and some just take it like I owe my life to them. Of course when someone expresses appreciaton, I feel like dancing on the moon. And that makes all the work worthwhile and that makes you overlook those who dont appreciate you.

Like what my upline always says - Look Beyond...

To be in 5% or 95%?

I recently had a conversation with a friend from overseas. She bought a FitLine product from me about a month ago.

I hadnt been able to follow up with her on the product as she doesnt really reply my emails or smses. Hence, I decided to call her to get a reply.

Product - well, she hasnt inculcated the habit of drinking the minerals. Keeps on forgetting.

Herself ? She's at the crossroad - to be in business or to go back into employment. She has been in the FMCG line for many years and she was doing very well in it until she had her first child. Then priorities changed. Baby came first. She left her job as the hours was taking a toll on her.

During the conversation, she asked me what should she do?

I told her to go into business, and not look back. I have known her for more than 10 years, and I know she will excel in whatever she does. Of course, since she has been drawing a very good salary for more than 10 years, the thought of having instable and little income for the initial few months give her the cringes. Thus, she has been going for interviews, hoping to get back into employment.

I also told her that since her baby is only one year old, NOW is the time to get into business, and build her business so that when it is stable, she can spend more time with her baby and able to afford better things for her baby.

I truly hope that she takes my advice seriously to join us, the business owners, the 5%er and make it BIG.

Hi People...

I notice that my blog actually has readers. But I dont know who you are, apart from you, GY.

Do drop me a comment, or email me. It will be nice to hear from you :)

Unsure?

I was at the cash deposit ATM at a shopping mall earlier. As usual, I want things to be done fast and I hate waiting.

The lady in front of me took her own grandfather's time to key in her account number. But wait, after keying in, she cleared it. She forgot or isnt sure of the account number!

Geezzz...So I waited. I began to tap my feet quite loudly to let her know that someone is waiting behind her.

So she tried again. Again, she forgot/is unsure of the account number. How can you NOT know the bank account number when you want to deposit cash???

She felt guilty that she was taking up too much time. She allowed me to use the ATM and queue up behind me. I was done in less than 2 minutes. Then I went off, to run errands. On my way to my appointment venue, I had to pass the ATM again. She was still there! And it was like 20 minutes ago! Gosh!

What's with such people??? But there are people who are like her. Dont know what they want in life. Dont know what is happening around them. Just living day to day. What is the meaning of life then?
